We’re looking for a detailed Platemaker to join our Prepress team for a 3-day 12-hours work day within our Ypsilanti Plant at 775 James L Hart Parkway. 

The Proofreader / Platemaker is responsible for reviewing the work produced by various internal groups to ensure that the production requirements have been created correctly.  In addition, they are responsible for the operation of the plate making equipment. This position will monitor the plate making equipment for daily use, make plates, organize stock, monitor production needs and user maintenance on all plate making related equipment.  The position is responsible for leading the Plate Making process to produce high quality printing plates in accordance with Pollard Banknote’s production requirements, quality standards and specifications for each game.

What You'll Do

• Ensure that products are reviewed and manufactured in accordance to specifications
• Ensure production schedules are met, while minimizing waste
• Ensure optimal product quality through equipment calibration
• Ensure optimal equipment performance through proper set-up, operation, and preventative maintenance
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
• Coordinate all machine service from outside vendors
• Troubleshoot plate and plate equipment issues
• Ensure preventative maintenance schedules are met and equipment and work area are clean and organized
• Monitor all plate room supplies, machine parts and raw materials; ensure that work areas are clean and organized
• Conduct daily and weekly safety inspections
• Perform duties in a safe and ergonomically sound manner and adhere to all company’s established procedures and policies with respect to operation, health & safety, and security
• Proofread Production Files
• Other duties as assigned

Who You Are

• Thorough understanding of product specifications
• Ability to read and interpret detailed game specifications
• Understanding of and consistent adherence to Health & Safety, Quality and Security standards
• Intermediate level of software skills including Microsoft office and platemaking programs
• Demonstrated ability to pay attention to detail and produce accurate work

What You'll Bring

Qualifications

• Knowledge and understanding of Pre-press operations and modern printing technology and processes
• Knowledge in Flexographic Printing is an asset
• Ability to lift up to 75lbs
• Verbal and written communication skills
• Basic mechanical skills

• Long duration of concentration in front of computer

Education:

• High School Diploma or GED required
• 1-3 years previous experience working in proofreading or in pre-press production environment is preferred.
