We’re looking for a Software Engineering Manager to join our team within Canada in either the Eastern or Central Time Zones.
As a Software Engineering Manager, you'll play a hands-on role in building the foundation of our iLottery Catalyst platform. You’ll drive impact by providing engineers with the direction, support, and coaching they need to deliver high-quality solutions quickly and confidently. Leading the Shared Services team, you’ll drive the development of the core services that power our products - enabling speed, consistency, and reliability across the platform.
This role blends technical leadership with team development. You’ll work alongside engineers, shaping architecture, guiding execution, and removing obstacles so the team can move fast and ship with confidence. From strategy to delivery, you’ll ensure our shared capabilities scale to meet the evolving needs of product and engineering teams around the world.

What You'll Do
- Lead and Develop Talent: Build and mentor a high-performing team of software engineers. Provide regular feedback, support career growth, and create an environment where engineers do their best work.
- Drive the Strategy for Shared Services: Own and execute the roadmap for Shared Services, aligning with product and platform leaders to enable Catalyst’s broader goals.
- Own Service Reliability and Scale: Ensure our core services are scalable, resilient, and easy to integrate. Champion automation and self-service to empower stream-aligned teams.
- Shape Technical Direction: Collaborate with architects and senior engineers to define technical strategy, enforce architectural best practices, and align with long-term platform vision.
- Optimize the Way We Work: Foster agile, metrics-informed development. Continuously improve team operations by facilitating effective ceremonies and streamlining delivery practices.
- Partner Across the Platform: Work closely with product, engineering, and infrastructure leaders to ensure shared services integrate cleanly and evolve alongside the broader Catalyst ecosystem.

What You'll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience.
- 3+ years of proven experience as a technical lead or manager, with a track record of building and leading high performing engineering teams in a cloud-native microservices environment.
- 4+ years of experience developing scalable, high-performance software applications or API platforms.
- Proficiency in Enterprise Java and at least one additional modern programming language (Go, Python, etc.).
- Strong knowledge of technical architecture, cloud computing (AWS preferred), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and automation tools.
- Proven track record guiding teams through complex architectural discussions and technology decisions.
- Experience designing, building, and maintaining REST APIs and microservices architectures.
- Demonstrated expertise in Agile, Lean, and Continuous Delivery principles, including established CI/CD pipelines.
- Exceptional communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
