We’re looking for a Data Scientist, reporting to the Director, Lottery Management Services, to join our Lottery Management Services (LMS) team in our office at 4555 E. Elwood St, Phoenix, Arizona.
This is on-site role and you will partner closely with operations to turn real‑world lottery data into actionable insights and scalable machine learning solutions that improve operational performance, logistics efficiency, and player experiences.
This role is ideal for a motivated, analytical professional with experience applying data science to business problems. You’ll collaborate with subject matter experts across supply chain, logistics, customer service, sales, and product teams to design, build, and deploy models that drive measurable business value and help position Pollard as a premier analytics partner for lotteries.
Success in this role requires curiosity, strong problem‑solving skills, and the ability to balance experimentation with production‑ready, cost‑effective solutions, while clearly communicating insights to both technical and non‑technical audiences.

What You'll Do
- Lead the ideation, research, and experimentation phases of data science initiatives within our Lottery Management Services business unit.
- Collaborate closely with operations, supply chain, logistics, customer service, sales, and product teams to understand business challenges and opportunities.
- Translate complex business requirements into analytical and machine learning solutions that drive meaningful business outcomes.
- Collect, cleanse, and preprocess large datasets to ensure high-quality model development.
- Design, develop, and deploy machine learning models that enhance operational efficiency and customer experience.
- Monitor model accuracy, stability, and performance both before and after deployment, ensuring solutions remain fit for purpose.
- Ensure scalability, feasibility, and cost-awareness of proof-of-concepts (POCs) and production models, particularly within AWS cloud services.
- Clearly communicate analytical insights, recommendations, and results to functional teams and senior leadership.
- Stay current with emerging trends, tools, and best practices in data science and machine learning through ongoing learning and professional development.
- Travel- Occasional travel within the United States and Canada to office and customer locations may be required.
- Work Schedule in Office: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM. Additional hours may be required based on business needs.

What You'll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field. Master’s degree is an asset.
- 2+ years of experience building and applying data science and machine learning solutions to business problems.
- Strong foundation in advanced statistics and applied machine learning techniques.
- Proven ability to convert complex business challenges into mathematical and analytical models.
- Experience with data analysis and development tools such as SQL, RStudio, PyCharm, Jupyter, Anaconda, or VS Code.
- Familiarity with, or ability to quickly learn, Amazon Web Services (AWS) including services such as S3, EC2, Lambda, API Gateway, Elastic Beanstalk, and SageMaker.
- Experience creating low- and high-fidelity analytical prototypes that can be scaled into production solutions.
- Awareness of bias, privacy, and compliance considerations in data science and machine learning.
- AWS certifications are considered an asset.
