Research and Development Technician

We’re looking for a Research & Development Technician to join our Corporate Laboratory Services team within our Winnipeg Office at 140 Otter Street. The R&D technician will provide support to various functions within the Lab Services department especially focusing on wet chemistry, sample testing, generating data and providing support to R&D Chemists. The incumbent must have the skills, capability, and willingness to be trained for a broad range of tasks and responsibilities.

What You'll Do

  • Set up and conduct experiments, tests, analyses using techniques such as spectroscopy, physical and chemical testing and microscopy
  • Prepare prototype samples in the lab and record all variables related to the prototyping phase
  • Perform quality control testing on new inks, coatings and substrates
  • Promote effective communication between lab technicians, chemists and supervisors
  • Ensure safe work practices are followed 
  • Keep workspaces clean, fill chemical bottles and other duties as assigned

  • Ability to effectively communicate to all levels of the organization 
  • Must be capable of lifting weights up to 40 lbs with long periods of standing and walking

What You'll Bring

  • Working towads Bachelor of Sciences preferably Chemistry/Biochemistry
  • 1-2 years' experience working in a Chemistry lab is an asset
  • Strong proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite products
  • Familiarity with analytical equipment for example FTIR, Goniometer etc. is an asset
